Here is how I do it:
1. While playing back your recording, press locate a/in button to mark point that you want to punch in.
2. If you want to be punched OUT automatically at a certain point, then continue listining to the song and then press locate b/out button at the point that you want to MR-8 to AUTOMATICALLY punch you out.
3. If you wish to just punch in the song part by part, then skip step 2 and hold stop and ffwrd at the same to to wisk you to the end of the song and mark it with locate b/out (that way if you have a good take going and want to keep going, the MR_8 will not punch you out when you dont want it to)
now when you are ready to do your punch in: first arm the AUTOPUNCH BUTTON!
1. hit loc a button then hit rewind for a couple of secs to give yourself a few more seconds of time for rehearsal before punch in
2. Again I suggest using the auto punch in funtion so be sure to press the autopunch button and make sure it is lit up
3. tap the record button once then tap it again and this time hold it down and while you hold it down tap the play button.
4. Your recording shuold start playing back and just start playing/singing etc along with it and viola the MR-8 will punch you in automatically where you had originally set the loc a/in part.
Keep in mind you may have to "delete unused" once in a while becuase your MR-8 has to have enough memory to accomadate punch ins (something to do with the time between loc a and loc b)
Also punching in over and over will start to hog lots and lots and lots of memory so be sure to keep deleting unused (it will become you best friend)
hope this helps.
