Hi Guys,
I'm doing everything correctly that I know of. Here are my specs first (then my issue):
FW800 to rugged external HD.
Mac OS X, snowleopard, with 3.06 GHz Core 2 duo processor.
M-Audio Fast Track Ultra connected with USB to the high-speed bus port.
iLok (just updated)
PT8 M-Powered 8.0.3 - all updates recent (as far as I know...)
Airport off, Bluetooth off.
All optimizations with Firevault, etc., done!
Adjusted Playback Engine to 512, with 1 processor, 85% (have tried other settings to no avail)
DAE Buffer, one less than defalut, but have tried other combinations to no avail.
I just went and bought a new wired keyboard and mouse to see if it was the bluetooth interfering, and it's a little better, but I still get the playback halt with the message, to increase... everything...
So my question is - after researching this on line for a few days - what am I missing? I've tried everything. The only plugins I use are the ones that came with it, and a couple Masey plugins which are qualified for PT8.
Does anyone have an actual fix for this? I've got 21 tracks, two of which are instrument tracks with the pro tools db-33, and baby grand piano pluggins going. I do have a lot of comp and limiting plug ins going. I used to do the same thing with my old Dell in ProTool LE several years ago and never really had an issue.
Can someone tell me that if I add RAM, maybe 4 more gigs, if that would actually help??? If that's all it takes, I'll do it.
i hate have to fuck with the Playback Engine all the time. That's STUPID!
After using LE on a PC, I must say I'm disappointed with PT 8 because it seems like I've done is wrestle with it.
I would be grateful for anyone with a solution to this issue.
If 4gigs of RAM isn't enough
, and I need to get more, then so be it.... As long as someone can tell me for sure if that will help significantly.
Thanks much!!!
