Hi Guys. I'm new to this forum.
I've got a MusicXPC C4 computer, installed the Mbox2 interface, that came with Pro Tools LE 7.1.
I also have an external Yamaha AW16G 16 Track Digital Recorder.

After I exported my audio files from the AW16G into Protools, I then imported my .wav files, and then created new tracks to place the .wav files by using Import-> Audio to Track.

I would like to go back and do a couple overdub sessions using Protools, so what I did was set up for a mono track, and then I connected my mic (AKG C3000B) to the input of the Mbox2, switched it to MIC level, and also turned on the 48V and the MONO, since my voice is only in the center.

BUT when I set the MIX knob on the MBOX2, all the way to LEFT...All I hear is the Microphone only input, since that is the input signal.
When I set it to the far RIGHT, I hear whatever is being played back from Pro Tools.

HERES THE PROBLEM:

After I have set my levels, and ready to do the overdub/recording session, I'm hearing a slight delay between the time that I sing in the mic, and the time that I hear it played back from the MBOX2.

What I would like to be able to do is set my levels on the MBOX 2 for the overdub session, and then also be able to control the "monitored mix" volume of the signal using the faders in ProTools, during the overdub session.

But I cannot get this working, and I have tried everything,am I doing something wrong?
Or is this normal with the Mbox2?

Does Anybody Have Any Suggestions For Me to Try?
Thanks and Looking Forward to Hearing Back From You!!
If anybody has any questions, please feel free to ask, and I will be more than glad to explain better...

Is the mbox 2 usb?

I had the original mbox that was USB, i was under the impression the delay was caused by it being USB. I never found a way around it, i just turned the fader down a little in PT on the track i was recording, and recorded vocals with one earphone off so i could hear myself. Pretty crappy solution, but as i said i never found another way. That is, apart from upgrading to a firewire device.

Thank you for the reply, wrecked504, that seems like the problem that i'm having is the same problem you had.

latency is an inherit problem with USB systems. Especially since the Mbox still uses the 1.1 protocol. This is why Digi included the knob so you hear the input on the Mbox rather than what is being recorded. Or mute the channel you're recording to.
Also, check to make sure you have your buffer settings turned down. In the setups menu lower the buffer settings to as low as you can get it.
