Is it me or is the PSP Mixsaturator, fantastic...

To me this is a perfect plugin to run your song through after its mixed, or maybe use as a finishing touch to your mix...

are there any other plugins that are as good as this that maybe I could check out?

If your mixes need "finishing touches" after you mix, then you're not done mixing yet!

thats a good point,

but then what is mastering for ?:)

I would normaly use a Limiter and a little compression on an over all mix, ....this PSP plug in just sounds like its perfect for finish touch...

i just want to make my Mix as up front, warm, and powerfull as poss :)

yeah,
the waves "Linear Phase Broadband"
Thats a great one for adding/subtracting things.
But thats more in the mastering process.

As for mix pumpers?
Take Blue bears advice on that one.
You really need a good eq/instrument/level balance to have a great sounding mix!
But to answer you question.
I like to use a plug called "McDsp Analog Channel"

A well done mix sounds good before it's mastered.... Mastering is a high-gloss polish.

Yeah very true...i guess its more for a record...to give all the tracks the same gloss

Normally, I'm one to agree with Bluebear on this sort of thing . . .

But then I have to admit PSP makes some pretty cool toys. :D I've messed around with the demo versions, and I get a real kick out of just about every one of them.

Admittedly, they're very "gimicky." Maybe even tacky. But the Mixsaturator, along with the Vintage Warmer and some of their other stuff, are actually very useful software compressor / limiters. They're capable of some pretty extreme compression effects, some way-out pumping and breathing . . . continuously variable knee, and even paralel compression. But you can also back off on all that crap and use it as a very transparent L-2 style peak limiter if you want.

That kind of stuff can be pretty fun to play with on a snare or drum submix . . . or as a vocal effect. Why not an entire mix?

Like with anything else, they're tools that can be used or abused.

I think they would be great to use on a live Mix....where you can change the EQs....so you could use them to bend it all into shape....the mixSat on a drum kit....now that sounds sexy :)

I think it's hands-down the most believable analog tape and/or tube saturator on the plugin market. Great for drum kit smashing if you don't have the budget for an LA2A or an 1176 in your immediate horizon.

Well their on there way :), but all the more the better :)

Everything PSP makes is pretty cool. They are unique and have a sound that is "analog-like". The Mixpressor is good on vocals, Mixsaturator is nice, (but a little more subdued) Mixbass can really make the sub-bass thunder, and Vintage Warmer works on just about anything. The PSP stuff does add coloration, but I guess it just depends on whether you perceive it to be good coloration. Most of the time, I do.
