Howdy Y'all,
(that's how people say hello where I'm from, Austin). I just picked up a set of Event PS5's, my first studio monitors. They are powered and have a 5.14" driver and 3/4" tweeter. So far I'm not sure if I like them. I did my first mix on them, got it sounding really nice, burned to CD and my mix sounded horrible on evey thing elese. Then I played a production CD thru them and it sounded very bright and lacked bass. The CD I burned had (of course) too much bass, the guitars got lost, and was hollow sounding. Any one have any experiences with these things. I'm thinking of taking them back and getting an Alesis Pwr amp and the 20/20's, Tannoy Reveals, or the M1MKII Actives. Any thoghts? Also, I'm looking to get a nice condenser mic to record vocals with. Thinking about the Rode NT2 or NTK. My preamp is just a TUBE MP going thru a 3630 Compressor and into a Roland VSR-880. My vocal style is pretty smooth with the occasional belting and screaming. Thaks so much.
