Hi everybody,

I am a very new to the digital side of recording. Just wondering which combo you folks think is better: Protools LE with it's proprietary sound card, or SONAR 2.0 XL with a high quality card like the MotU 896.

Thanks!!

as far as Software have never dealt with anything besides Cakewalk products so that would mean that i was always able to do everything i needed with cakewalk, and couldn't fathom anything else i would need to do to record a track. So for me the software is great. No opening windows to edit audio track etc.. its all done in one view except for midi where u have the piano roll

as for converters the MOTU896 is far superior to the stock Dig001 as in features. sound quality i wouldn't know because haven't done any listening tests with either but from what i've read and heard about the MOTU896 is it stands up pretty well when compared to the higher end stand alone converter such as apogee, lucid, mytek(each run like 2000+). Only those well seasoned mixers with good monitors and rooms would be able to pick the difference

If you are looking to use your eauipment for commercial or paod purpposes i highy suggest ProTools LE. Atleast your format is compatible with the "big boys" Its one of those things you'd have to use and hear to know. Yes ProTools LE isn;t the same as TDM but the interface is darn near the same and when'if and if you want to get in to a studio you will geel at home.
If you are resoring etc.. for creative purposes etc... then SONAR is awesome, it is a great creative music making environment at a great price.

SOnt lose any sleep over it (no tears,,, no tic-tac messages).

Most importantly........ DO IT! (hit that gutair, beat those drums, tweak that synth)
