Hi all,

This version of protools is killing me. I finally got a song almost all done.. then i go to save with my headphone sends out on 3-4. This is normally ok... or was in the older versions, but this version it causes file corruption. I closed pt.. for a break.. then came back and re-open it.. awhhgg.. stupid session won't open. This was suppose to be fixed with the latest cs update... Before.. this update.. i was having all sorts of problems with markers.. and random saving problems... this version is really buggy... I hope they fix all the bugs before they go move it up into the next version.

Good thing i'm crazy about backing up too... those backups have saved my A** a few times here lately with all these problems....

and to think on wednesday i was gonna buy me an mbox and protools but i'm thinkin otherwise now

I'm a Cubase junkie. I had too many glitches with PT when I used it. I know if I get too annoyed with software glitches (especially on multiple versions), I'll eventually stop using the software. There's only so much searching through random forums you can do to troubleshoot for fixes. Don't get me wrong, I get glitches with Cubase and Nuendo, but nowhere near that serious.

That's because it's a new version of pro tools. I'm still stuck between 6.4 (TDM) & 6.9 (M). A lot of studios still haven't switched over to 7.*+. I have no problems running pt, I figure theres going to be many bugs in the new ones. I personally use Pro Tools, because I can transfer studio sessions back and forth. It's not a bad program, pretty straight forward, and powerful.

Just out of curiosity, are the session file backups that PT creates corrupt too?

Only the last 2 right before whatever it didn't like happened... I noticed it happens on sessions with multiple plugins and multiple sends. The cs2 fix was suppose to resolve the issues with the corruption on the bus sends.. but it's still happening. At least now i can use my markers.. before i was getting repeated access violation errors when i went to use it. I like this versions.. midi tools.. all the other versions of PT are lacking in the midi department. I'm dealing with the problems for right now.. until i get too pissed off and decide to move to something more stable... i might go back to version 7 it was pretty stable...

Having problems here too......... 7.3.1

NOT HAVING FUN HERE........

I'm 2 seconds away from EBAY'ing pro tools and using Adobe Auditon.

Having EXTREMELY-WIERD saving problems.

Totally corrupted 2 songs with a band I am working with.

I get to tell them we have to start over on those 2.

Man I finally got past some of my errors. One of them was that in my creating a backup session.. i accidentally saved some of my audio files along with it. So when i went to open up the real session my audio file links were trashed. I went into the project window and removed out the links to the old tracks and cleaned up the old fades. That seems to clean up alot of issues i was having with that session. The other thing i discovered was that sessions saved with multiple rewire apps open causes session corruption. What i do now is create instrument tracks then dump them into audio tracks. I then make the instrument tracks inactive.. that way if i need to go back and fix something i can do it easy by just making the track active again. By doing those things i am now.. some what stable... although my one big session still sometimes trashes out.. i'm thinking about just starting over and moving all the audio files into a new session.

I'm strictly an amateur but I find Samplitude V8 SE (a cut-down version of Samp but with NO save or time restrictions) to be an excellent program. Have you thought of trying Samplitude 9 instead of Pro Tools? Samp did have some excellent crossover deals recently for Cubase owners but I don't know if the offers are still valid. :)

I know it would be easier to move to something else, but pro-tools is like microsoft windows to the music industry. Every film house, production house... out there uses it. If i wanted to take my work to a big studio.. it would not be an issue. Where as if i was using.. samplitude.. i might have an issue. Yeah it sucks... to be on a new version... but i always have the option of going back to version 7. I just hate being a guinea pig... it does suck.... reminds me of switching operating systems.. it sucks until they do a major service pack.

as long as you save your projects as data files..(ie .wav format).. you shouldnt have any problem uploading your music to the big studios..
