I've been using a Mac G4 loaded with a TDM Mix system with Core and Farm cards successfully for quite some time. I like this set up because I don't run into any latency problems and have been able to record up to 16 tracks simultaneously without any problems. My G4 just took a dump. I can't afford a new system - so I secured a not to used G4 to continue on. At the time - I was informed by ProTools that the only version of ProTools I could use was 6.4.1 The problem is I don't have the ProTools CD's with ProTools 6.4.1 anymore so I can't load up ProTools. I can't use any newer Protools version - so I'm stuck trying to get a copy to download and get back to work. Would love some responses on where I can obtain a copy so I can load it up.

Hi,
I would think these old versions should be available from AVID through your account.
As far as I remember all the old versions are listed in mine.

I think I have licenses for 6 through to 11 so I'll have a look and check for you.

If you're super stuck I bet you'd get a copy of the discs on ebay once in a while.

Thanks for the info - I believe when I was setting my system up and was speaking to an Avid rep - he directed me to a page where I was able to load that version for free. Hence - I don't believe an account was necessary. I'll keep my eye's open. If by chance you have a copy I'd be willing to make restitution for it. I really want to get set up again. I'll also check E-bay and - during business hours I'll try to get through to the Avid customer service. It was a real chore before - since I didn't have an account I had to pay $3.00 per minute with a 10 minute minimum charge to talk to them.

I've loaded up Pro Tools - but it won't boot up. I'm getting an error message
"Digidesign hardware is in use by another application (-1133). Any idea's?

Have you changed anything else recently? Upgraded operating system or anything like that?
Does the hardware show up OK in system profiler (or whatever the 10.3 equivalent is)?
It'd be worth finding and reinstalling the drivers for your hardware just to be sure that the protools reinstall didn't interfere with them.

It'd also be worth repairing your OsX permissions and trashing the Protools preferences too.
