Proteus X2 in-a-box ?

First, I hope this the right forum. Second, I am not a trained keyboard player, but I do have a Roland D70 and learned to play a bunch of songs by ear or via matching guitar chords

I wanted to buy a MIDI interface to use with my guitar processor. I ordered the EMU XMIDI 2X2, so I could hook up my D70 and my Zoom G7 guitar processor

I bought the XMIDI 2X2 and it was packaged with Proteus X2 http://www.emu.com/products/product.asp?category=610&subcategory=611&product=15187

What exactly could I use the Proteus X2 software for ?

IIRC that's used as a VST'i from within your recording app... ie: you play it within cubase and it records the sounds... or morte acurately it replays (retriggers) it each time...
