Hi there,
ive been researching into recording for a long time, and am now beginning to buy my equipment. i am wanting to record primarily for drums, but also bass, guitar, and many other instruments.
i have ordered a delta 1010lt card for my computer, and planning on getting a soundcraft fx16 desk.
my proposed mic set up is as follows:

Kick - AKG D112
Snare - SM57
Toms - Sennheiser e604

The one im not sure about are overheads. i have been suggested some se electronics se1's. also, i have been looking at oktava mk-012a's. both being relativley cheap in comparison with my budget, they seem quite suitable from that perspective.

the main question is, are the above mics good mics for what ive suggested, especially the overhead condensers? any other suggestions? thanks alot,

Steve

That setup is pretty much what I use most of the time. The octavas are good overheads.

octavas

I love my octavas :) They make my zildjians sound real.
They also do good job picking up the snare.
I have two delta 44s that do a good job.
