Slow Children Playing
Since I was off since last Wednesday, I managed to make progress on my assundry guitar projects.
I made the tremolo functional on the jambolin. It necessitated my learning to use my friend's router. On this homemade recyclocaster, I already had a hole through the body big enough for the trem to sit in there, but with no springs. I had to rout the spring cavity and enlarge the holeenough for the bridge to move. This is a Braggs X-bridge. I bought an ebay mighty mite neck that I was going to use, but ended up putting the ragged-out Kramer neck back on. I had to reshim it, but ended up withe better action than before I tore it apart again. The guitar is working acoustically (well, the piezo part is working). I just didn't install the pickguard and electric pickups yet because I repatriated the rhythm pickup for the Kramer (since it was OEM).
Next, I re-assembled the Disco Slut. I swapped out the vintage-style fender bridge that came originally on my 62 reissue strat for a chrome cast mid 70's fender trem. I think the cast trem sounds better. I don't know why it would. I imagine it's the shittiest metal under the chrome. It stays it tune pretty well. The other thing I like is that the ball ends are very shallow in the block. They never get stuck if I break a string.
trickling down, I installed the 62RI trem onto a saga strat that i bought when I was like 14. It also inhyerited the original shitty squier pickguard and pickups originally on the disco slut. I just need shitty tuners, because I lost two of the bushings that go witht he original shitty squier tuners on the disco slut.
I started looking into adding a spacer under the bridge PU on the Epiphone ES-295. It's very far away from the strings, so the pickup has no ass. I bought another dog-ear P90 mounting ring. I think it's too thick, so I have to sand it a little thinner.
Lastly, I installed the MM neck onto the kramer. The guitar tech told me the kramer neck was shitte, so i put it back on the homemade guitar and decided to use the new mighty mite neck on it. It was router for the top mount flyd nut, but the holes drilled were fuct. I filled them and redrilled. Then I stuck the neck in the pocket, calmped it, temporarily installed 2 strings to help get it straight and drilled the neck holes. Luckily, the body holes lined up with the shitty neck plate I bought at guitar center on sunday.
For some reason, I am compelled to get all these pieces parts screwed into their perspective guitars. Not a one of them is going to be worth selling when I'm, done. Maybe I'll just put all my strat copies on the couch and take a picture of them with the headstocks cut off.
