Just thought that I would send off a photo of my garage "studio". I'm getting close to the point when the Pipe Organ project can get going. I still need a cd burner (tascam or fostex) and I want a better mic pre than the DMP-3 that you see here. I have a line on an BR-20 that I think will put the Tascam 32 up for sale. I really do not need 3 half track machines. What you do not see it the 2 Teac 3440 that are going up on eBay once I replace the belts and check calibration.

On the side RE mic pre. I have a number of PCB for Jensen 990 opamps and have just ordered 2 dual 99v pre PCB from JLM audio. I'll be modifying the pre PCB to become a twin servo pre based on the 7th circle schematic and jensen schematic meld. I hope to have than done in a month or so.

The pipe organ project is starting to gather interest. It is simply recording a few organs and organists in town and maknig a few cd that showcase the organ or organists of hte area.

Regards, Ethan

Nice collection and work space, EVM. What are you going to record the organs on?

Mic - preamp - halftrack

The "current" plan is to use 2 Oktava Mk-012 in a wide stereo pair feeding into the twin servo preamp and then directly to the BR-20 (or the 32 if I don't get the BR). (mic will be about 1/3 room back from the organ and 1/3 width in from the walls)

The dynamic range of organ music is huge. Everything from Full organ to the birds chirping in the rafters (no kidding!) Some organs can do 16 Hz and I don't expect to get that on tape... but the harmonics will record.
