Project inside nuendo sounds better

Please help..why my project sounds better inside nuendo..when i export it, i get a low quality..what can i do to hear what i hear inside..thx

Are you dithering your export? That is, if you are recording at 24-bit and exporting at 16-bit to burn cd's, then, yes, there is a loss of quality. However, there's really not much you can do about it. CD players require 16-bit audio.

no. i export the project in 24 bit wav file. i get a low volume mix different than the on e played in nuendo

Welcome aboard, Reef.

Do you have the documentation for Neundo? Its a pretty pricey program and not many folks around here use it. I have Cubase SX2, though, and from what I understand they are fairly similar.

Are you recording to the 32 bit floating point .WAV? If so, you may need to dither to 24 bit for your mix. I doubt that's the only issue at hand, though.

Are you using any effects on the master channel?

Also check the export dialog box- If I recall there are a bunch of options to include or exclude effects and automation- make sure they are all included.

Also, are you listening to your 2 track mixdown through something like windows media? If so, you may have EQ's and/or volume settings internal to windows media that would make it sound different.

How are you accomplishing your export?

I have ran Nuendo 2 and Nuendo 3 and have never had a problem with volume of the exported mixdown.

What are you listening to your mixdown on?

to test this, export a wav, import it, and export it again. if it gets quieter than you'll be right. i doubt it will be though.

Is it just that the wav you mix down to has a quieter playback volume than your nuendo project? If so, this is normal. Mixdown volume will always be lower than the average cd volume. Thats why sound engineers get paid heaps to boost the volume to commercial levels. Best to put the wav back into nuendo after mixdown, or wavelab if you have it, and use some limiters and volume maximizers to try and boost it a bit. Or start compressing everything. I wont go into too much detail as there are lots of threads around the forum on this topic, that probably explain it a lot better than I could.

If the issue isnt the mixdown having a quieter playback volume, then I apologise, I have just wasted everyones time...lol.

Wow, you must be pretty pissed at the low quality after having spent $2000+ on this software I'll bet.
