Here you go guys. I think I finally found the sweet spot for my cabinet. Any of you who tuned in for my first post, this should be refreshing for you. I know there are still fine tuning issues, but I think I'm zeroing in on it! What do you all think?

Listen to any one of those. If you've heard it before, please critique any progresses or not so progresses! Thanks guys and gals!

or you can download the MP3's in zip format from the website!

Listened to Hot Pursuit.

Again, good talent. (lots of good talent on this forum!!) Nice guitar strums, riffs, leads. Good tone on the guitars. I just don't see the need to throw those kind of vocals on a potentially good melodic metal tune. Perhaps I'm showing my age, but is it too late to bring back good singing combined with good metal?

You showed some maturity in your tune by pulling off some dynamics and changing things up a bit. THIS IS GOOD! I'd say you're on the right track. You could open up your potential audience by holding back a bit and adding some singing vocals. Just a thought. :)

Real good guitar playing and good sounding guitars. I almost always like doubled rhythm guits - these sounded nice.

Not sure what you're going for vocally, but I could not understand the words. Maybe that's what you intended, but I literally couldn't make out a single one. Like I say, maybe that's what you want.

Those drums are pretty wild :D:D:D. Lots of guitar playing - sort of needed something to break up the song.

Thanks guys,

Definately what I was after, was a bit of uninteligable gutteral vox. After a while in this genre, once the growling grows on you, :P, you can start to understand whats being said! But like I said it takes a while to grow on you before you can give it a chance and listen. Im from the days of thrash so it took a while to grow on me. If one is affected by the guitar music as I am, its hard to give the vox as much weight in the song. And now, that I have grown to enjoy it, some songs are hard to immagine without it. Just my thoughts!

Hey i listened to all of your stuff. I think Cycle was the best sonically. I really think that this kinda music is hard for most to get into, but i can jam to it. I like it all. Guitars are sounding good. Some of the drums i can't hear clearly enough. Is this all you, or a band. And i noticed before you used a drum machine. Are you still? Good shit...just needs a touch more clarity. you are a very good guitar player by the way. Cool Riffage!

A. man, thanks bro! I listened to yours as well, all kick ass tunes. Especially the riff on the "tears" song. I'd like to share miking techniques with ya! Anyway, yeah its all me except for vocals on the first 2 songs, then all me on Captivity until this weekend. We have final Vox session. Any hints you can give me before we put a wrap on this project though is definately appreciated. And yes it is software drumming. Get the program at http://www.pcdrummer.com . Or get in touch with me for a "free" sample. Once I got the right samples loaded into the drum software, I had 10 times better sound.

BTW on your thread concerning Lombardo, Gene Hoglan is a good friend of mine and drums circles arround dave. :P

I listened to hot pursuit. I liked the writing and the playing/singing a lot.

The guitar could be tons more in your face though. I don't know for sure what to suggest, but some things to try would be less pre more post on the amp, and micing dead center right on the grill. Or then again, maybe you don't want "in your face".

On the other hand, the drums sounded too in your face. There was too much contrast between the parts with lots of cymbals and the parts with lots of toms. I think it's the chorus that I'm referring to here. Awesome drum part though.

Could use more bottom. Probably just boosting the level on the bass would help a lot.

But great playing on some ambitious stuff. Love the high energy - that's hard to come by.

AMIDUMB????

This may be really dumb, cause i consider myself to be quite knowledgable on metal music. Who is Gene Hoglan? For some reason i think he is Strapping Young Lads drummer. Am i on crack. I don't think that Dave Lombardo is the best metal drummer or anything, i just tend to like his style. I know there are much better drummers out there. For some reason i have always liked Lombardo. I think that Paul Bostaphs work on Divine Intervention was probably more technical than anything Dave has done...but it'll be nice to see what Dave brings to the new Slayer album. Let me know on Gene...that one will bug me until i know if he is S.Y.L.'s drummer. Later

yep

Hes in SYL but (if my memory is working correctly) he was originally a member of Death. If you haven't heard or don't know who they are then check them out. Great guitar riffing/ drumming.

btw

new slayer= listened to way too much slipknot LOL. I bet they are wearing mask and numbered jump suits by 2004.

It should be back up. Or you can download them in zip format from my website. http://www.vesuviusdeath.com !

Yeah Gene drums for Devin Townsend now. He was with Dark Angel, and more prominantly Death (RIP Chuck). He is a great guy and good friend, as is Devin. It is amazing to see the comradery in the underground extreme metal scene. If any of you are from Cali and know of Dreams of Damnation (Jim Durkin formerly of Dark Angel as well) and Loana Valencia (Brutal female growling vocalist). They are awesome people who consider themselves fans more than artists. LMAO I've seen Loana claw her way to the front at exodus, after DOD opened, right after hugging the lot of us not in the pit! Last years Southern California Hellfest in Whittier was an awesome show of stellar underground bands, in which all the artists hung out and partied after their sets until Exodus swept it up. Rambling now, but back to the point, it is amazing how in an underground "evil genre" of music could be found so many smiles and so much friendship.

Hopefully, if I can get my recording skills up to par, I can join the ranks of infamous metal artists such as Sadistic Intent, also from the "Slayer" part of southern california!

Thanks
