Here's a scenerio: I'm using two programs, say Nuendo and Fruity Loops. I'm listening back to something on Nuendo, and I bring Fruity Loops into the foreground. As soon as the Fruity Loops window is in focus, Nuendo stops playing. Does anybody know of a setting in any program to toggle that , or what that setting is called?

nope. Depending on program it takes your sound card and basically dedicates it for use only in that particular program. You can't record/playback in one of the programs if both of those programs are running at the same time. If you try and run say Windows Media Player, and then open up Nuendo, your going to get errors, and the same if you open up nuendo and try to play in media player. You'll have to release the sound card by shutting down the program so that another program can use it. There's no toggling program that I know of that does what your talking about.
