Sample1... nice sound .. the bassists noodling on fast notes more clutters things than sounds cool.
Smaller panning might bring things together a bit, superwide...it's kinda unfocused. Also might give more "punch" to metal. Quite jazzy, and light.
But everything is clearly audible, maybe up the guitars a tad?

sample2...
the bass is still a tad loud.
Nicely more focused tune! I'd bring the guits up, a tad here too.
Abrupt ending, nice tune allinall!

as above more or less.

cool tracks though. Bass does seem loud throughout both samples & the panning is brutal, almost like splitting your head in 2:D:D

minor issue... i dont care for the drum tuning... toms are too high ... sounds like a jazz kit... YMMV..

Sample1: Like the bassound in the beginning, but would turn it down after the intro. Guitars a tad up (like Jouni said) / could sound fatter. Panning a bit too hard. Cool funky stuff. 8)

Sample2: Panning good. Guitars up (especially at 3:00), Bass maybe a tad down, maybe the kick is a bit loud, too.

Besides that really good mixes imho. And great music! :)

thanks for the input guys. I've made some notes and I hope to have some updates in a couple of weeks. :D

I realize this kind of music is niche, but interesting fellows to work with

And it's one of my very favorite niches. I wish I could play a bit more like that, and I think you've done a great job capturing it! Look forward to the updates.

I've had some time to do a little remixing on the prog songs. This time I mixed into a stereo compressor in an attempt to get something a litter fatter. Perhaps a little more in your face.

So far the experimentation seems to have produced a little more of a grundgy "vintage" sound.

Anyway, let me know yay or nay?
