Argumentative...
I bought it recently(as stated in another post) Just wondering if anybody has had any problems with a blinking signal light when nothing is plugged in. It happens less when I turn the gain down(but still happens) and more often when turned up. I've browsed google for answer and seen people with other m-audio products have this problem but really no answers so just checking to see if anyone might know on here what could cause that. Thanks

I have that problem on a motu 828mk2.

It's a known fault with a potentiometer on my unit. Might be worth a google to see if it's the same thing.

Well I can't be sure that yours is the same, but with mine it caused audible clicks and pops on the recording.

Of course, the easiest way to answer that is to hit record.......

I have also had a bite from the m-audio profire 610 Lemon

I bought mine just long enough ago for the warranty to expire, recently I was making my first real attempt to make a recording, when I noticed I was getting a signal on record ready tracks when there should not have been one. When I disconnected the mics the signal was still there. It turns out that it was hum and static that is generated by the unit. The static was present on the recordings. I checked it out as far as my limited knowledge could go , asked on various forums, (this one first) then I talked to a very experienced technician at school, and he told me another m-audio horror story about a recent purchase the school made. an out of the box Lemon, that was a more expensive interface. My 610 now randomly emits static during playback. The service center for m-audio gear is over 2000 miles away and they want $99 just to look at it, I have to pay shipping both ways. Since I have ProTools m powered I'm stuck. I'm very new to recording, and a little P.O.ed. Fortunately I have Logic Studio, Reason 5, Reaktor 5, and a Saffire LE to fall back on. I like Pro tools for mixing, I'll have to learn to mix in Logic. The Focusrite Saffire sounds a lot better to my untrained ear anyway. No more m-audio gear for me. For what it's worth consider another interface.

The mic input is unconnected and floating. Depending on the circuit design it may flicker, especially when the gain knob is turned up.

This should not impact your recordings unless you are using that input in a unconnected state and have that track record enabled.
