I was wondering what will be the difference between recording with SBLive 5.1 (that´s what I got) and Delta 44 or 1010 Lt (I´ll buy it). If I record my drumkit I will hear the difference??. There´s no soundproof rooms, anything like that. I´m recording at home with pretty basic equipment. PRO 25, SM57 MXL990 (i need another condenser ), and a Behringer mixer. I know that I will have more inputs so the quality will be enhanced by this card, no latency, no hiss, etc. Is this enough??.
I just wanna do some demos and create my own music going step by step, investing little by little.

you could always install more sound cards, however, you can't play back different tracks on different files. You can install as many sound cards as you have pci slots.

but the sound quality will increase with the deltas. You are right in that you will be able to record more tracks simulaneously (same result as adding more sound cards)
However the big difference is low latency and a better bit depth

Id hardly call the Delta soundcards professional....they are more like prosumer, which according to Dragon means "better than what you can buy at Radio Shack but not as expensive as what the pros really use"

but yes it will be a step up from a SB....on a 1 track vs. 1 track comparison, the difference wont jump out at you, but many tracks combined will show you the light......

btw, id suggest another mxl990 to go stereo on overheads.....or if you wanna go with the 990 as a mono overhead, you can put something like a mxlv67 out front as sort of a 'room' mic......and the v67 may/may not be a better vocal mic than the v67 depending on the voice.....

Like most "pro audio" stuff, the M-Audio Delta series
cards are great for project studios. I have two 1010s
and like them a lot. They are lots, I mean lots,
better than a soundblaster. Since a 1010
goes for about $600, that is $80 per channel,
and the 1010LT goes for $300 ....

But they are not Apogee or Benchmark
or other $3,000 per channel professional convertors.

Nor is a Mackie preamp like a Great River :-)

Gidge, I was thinking in SP B1 instead of another 990, or mxl603 what do you think??.
I know that B1 is LD, but I could try this extrange combo, and obtain another multi task condenser.

the B1 is a nice mic....

the only drawback is there is no guarantee how it will sound if you try stereo overheads......

It means that I need to buy 2 of the same model, right??. I´m not totally satisfied with the 903, I´m almost sure that two 603 for OH could be better, but I couldn´t resist the MF offer (shockmount, case and mic for $79).

I have to add another item to my wish list.

Thanks
