I Looked at the whole site of Homerecording.com, I wanted to Know if the equipment mentioned on this site would suffice for Production. I want to get started in music production and I need to know what kind of equipment I should consider getting.

I have a Good computer with good software (CakeWalk Pro 8, Cool Edit Pro, Fruity Loops, etc) I just wanted to know what klnd of equipment would be good for Producing Music (Mainly Hip-Hop and R & B).

Welcome Johnson...Well, we're all happily producing music so I suppose the answer is yes...of course, you use more capital letters than most of us so maybe you're just being Extra Careful :)

You'll just have to decide how much to spend and look at the many alternatives involved. If you already have a computer, then you'll need a sound card, microphones, maybe a mixer, and CD-R, plus a musical instrument or two (which you haven't mentioned at all yet) would be nice.

Thanks for the reply.
My system does have a sound card (ESS1869 audiodrive).
What I have done so far was download various samples of instruments, converted them into .WAV files and then used Fruity Loops' keyboard edit to pitch the sound. I have made some pretty good songs with it.
Once again, Thanks for the reply.

Hi, you've made a good start but I have one of those cards laying around too, and it's useless for serious work. A new one should be your first bit of research...

I have a sound blaster 16 PCI card, I'm guessing it is not any better. Do you have any recommendations on a good sound card to purchase? Also I don't have a multitrack recorder but I have a regular dj mixer and a cassette recorder. Is that setup any good?
