Hey! I was either thinking of getting a d2424lv with my mixwizard or a v160ex, and just use my allen and heath mixwizard's pres with the v160. If i were to do this, would it be possible to bypass the pres on the v160? Thanks. Also i was wondering what people have to say about the two products. I cant really decide which one to get, cause my board cant even handle 24 tracks but maybe it would be good to have for the future. Thanks again!

Well, the vf160 cant handle 24 simultaneous tracks either.
Do you need the CD burner?
Do you need the portability? (all in one)

I dont think you can bypass the vf160's pre's, unless you go digital in. But the mix wizard would probably give you better sound in any case.

Do you need the 24 bit capability?

I'd get the D2424 and look to get some high quality mic pre's and a bigger mixing desk in the future.

Well, the portability would be convenient, but i dont know that I would really need it, seeing that I dont do too many on location recordings. Im not sure I would need the 24 bits, but it would probably be good to use if I had the option right? Also I was wondering what you use to record tubedriver. Thanks!

I've been using a VF160 extensively for about four months. I think it is one kick ass piece of gear. It doesn't color the sound. My only gripe is that the built in compressor can only be used on a few tracks, so you have to bounce stuff around to use it. I just went with an outboard compressor. It can handle the whole process from tracking to mixing and mastering. Portability is a must for me as all of my jobs are on location.
