Problems with the Behringer Xenyx 1204USB and MacBook Pro

Hey there, hopefully someone will be able to help me out.

I've just recently bought a Behringer Xenyx 1204USB mixer and a mic etc with the aim of starting my own podcast.

Unfortunately, whenever I go in to my System Preferences and try to make the Input the USB Audio Codec (the mixer) I'm met with a message that tells me this has no audio input, or something along those lines.

Just wondering really if anyones had similar problems/know where I'm going wrong?

First thing to try is the mixer on another computer. Do you have or have access to a Windows PC? The most basic of machines will work, even an old doorstop of an XP PC. You should not even need to install any drivers (although ASIO4ALL might be useful).

You have "recently bought" the mixer. Why? Not a silly question since a lot of newbs THINK they need a mixer for home recording when they really need an audio interface. (hmm, I don't podcast so maybe a mixer IS a better choice but somehow I doubt it. )
