Problems with Tascam Drivers... I Think

I'm having trouble running audio in and out of ableton live 8 with my Tascam US-144mkII. Basically, everything was going great and then all the sudden the ASIO driver stopped working. When I switched to the DirectX (which has more than 2s of latency ), audio came through. Then I switched back to ASIO and it didn't work. If I reinstalled the driver it would work. But now I just can't get it to work at all. Here's what I'm working with:

Tascam US-144mkII audio interface
Windows Vista, Dell Inspiron 32-bit 2GB RAM (it sucks...)
Ableton Live 8 (trial version)

See if you can remove the device in Device Manager and reboot, and try to reinstall the driver again. Have you checked Tascam's website for the latest driver??
