I am pretty sure I understand what rewire does. It lets me play my Reason Synths into Sonar right? Well if that is true here is my problem. I Open Sonar and insert a Reason Rewire "channel". I then open Reason and get an error message regarding the Midi unputs. Reason does not pick up and Midi input. Am I doing something wrong. The manuel is not to clear on this. Am I doing the process wrong? Is something not tunred on right? Any solutions? Thanks

If you get an error message about a MIDI Input problem from your ReWire application, click OK and then use SONAR's Options-MIDI Devices command to open the MIDI Devices dialog and select the MIDI In port to want to use to record into SONAR. Use your ReWire application's menus to choose a different MIDI In port for your ReWire application. If your MIDI interface only has one input, you have to decide whether you want to use your MIDI controller in SONAR or in your ReWire application. If you want to use your controller in your ReWire application, deselect your MIDI In port in SONAR's MIDI Devices dialog, and select that input in your ReWire application.

My simple sollution:

- Enable all MIDI ports in Sonar
- Don't use any midi ports Reason

= Control Reason via Sonar. It's just so much simpler if you want to use ReWire. :)

Thanks So far...I have gotten it to work.

I ran reason thru Sonar and diabled the midi in Reason. Now I am having a lot of latency now that I am using the Midi in Sonar. In Reason I was getting very little latency, now it is horible. How do I correct that. Thanks

...Well, try to alter the MIDI buffer in Options --> Global --> MIDI. By default it's set to 500ms. Try change higher (1000 ~ 2000) or even lower... Hope this could help.

erghh..ok I feel like an idiot. I said it wrong. I am disabling all of the midi in Sonar not Reason. I still tried doing the Midi buffer thing like you said in Sonar..still latency. SHoudl I do it the other way around, I tried but no midi was being recieved into Sonar. The problam is this now..just in case yo are confused.

I am disabling all midi in Sonar and rewiring Reason into it. I am getting a LOT of latency when I do this. I have an audiophile 25/96..so I don't think it is the card, as well I get barely any latency in jsut reason.

Do you think I should do the opposite but diabling midi in Reason and just using Sonar.. I have tried but can't get that to work. I am an midiot ;) heh. Si what do you think I should do.

THANKS A LOT FOR ALL OF THE HELP SO FAR!!!!...I am almost there hehe.

I would:

- Upgrade to Sonar 2.2
- Use ASIO-drivers in Sonar (with the Audiophile)
- Configure the Audiophile for low latency
- Rewire Reason to Sonar
- Enable all midi ports in Sonar
- Disable all midi ports in Reason (and use Rewire only)

:)
