problems with pro audio 9 playback

Evey now and again when i open cakewalk it doesn't recognize my souncard or something?? It has all my audio tracks as midi tracks and i can't change the source back to my q 10?? I have to restart my computer for it to recognize it, and sometimes that doesn't work??

Anyone elese have this problem?

My computer has 512mb of ram and a 2.4ghz processor.
 
Are you running any programs that might hog the soundcard before you start PA9?
 
I don't remember it in CWPA9, but you can "share driver with other applications", don't you ?
In SONAR I would go Options --> Audio --> Advanced tab.

And make sure you don't have any of necessary files attributed as Read Only. Cakewalk needs particular files to write your new configuration.

do you like sonar better? Or, better question, what are the advantages of using sonar as opposed to PA9??

I have SONAR too but I've just haven't used it.

More powerfull, more efficient, better volume/pan envelopes, envelopes for everything, automatable DX8 effects, DXi support (meaning VSTi support with wrapper), the Folder-Per-Project, use of Groove Clips (like Acid), WDM-driver support, ASIO-driver support....



And what is the matter with people? They pay $300 for software and then they don't install it. What's wrong with that picture? :eek:
 
i was all set to throw the first non tongue in cheek flame towards our new homerec member about 'free' software.

but

then i remembered that there really are members on this board who have purchased Sonar but do not use it.

who is the one that uses CW for midi then switches over to Sonar for audio?
 
James uses Cakewalk Pro 3, I know that.... ;)



Okay, maybe it's me there's something wrong with. But when I spend my money on software I install it to see what it's like...
