I'm new to using my computer as a multitrack, i recently bought a MOTU 24 I/O and Cubase SX. my computer is a P4 with a gig of ram, running windows XP
My problem is i cannot playback my project smoothly, it is very choopy and halting.
I didn't encounter any problems until i tried to apply a Compression plugin on 2 vocal tracks. i was playing back about 16 tracks fine until I applied the compression. when i turned off the compression the track played fine. i used the VST system monitor in cubase and it shows processor spikes whether the compressor is on or off.
I assume this is due to an advanced setting in windows using resources, as this computer has never been on the internet, and i only have audio programs installed.
does anyone have any advice? i feel that i should be able to play atleast 24 tracks with quite a few plugins enabled.
thanks very much for your time,
