can anyone help me out with some live recordings i made
i have recorded a live gig from a friend of mine but somehow there is to much echo especially on his voice is there a way to adjust this in cubase or a plug in that reduces the echo with out losing quality and any of the instruments.
the instruments are a bass a drum and a guitar.
any help is welcome

What you call echo is actually reverb. It is near impossible to remove that from any audio track. You could use an equalizer to reduce it a *little* bit but you will still hear most of the reverb.

This is something you really have to think about before you hit record if you want a quality recording. That's how it is mate, sorry :s

Always record dry and then place effects after you do the recording so you can monitor the sound and make your ajustments as needed.

Always record dry and then place effects after you do the recording so you can monitor the sound and make your ajustments as needed. Reverb is a tricky effect, But note that there is a ECHO effect also (besides Reverb) but you must still size the effects after your recording. Always record dry (no effects) than add them in after the recording. GOOD LUCK.

BOOMERS RECORDING STUDIO

thank you for your reply but how do you record a gig without the ade of the pa in the case of this recording we couldn`t use the pa so i had a mic setup above the crowd and what mics are good for this type of recording.
I know that if you normally record a session in a studio you always add effects later but the reverb came from the place they were playing hi roof glass wall.there was a cloth hanged for the glass wall but it didn`t help that much.
if i had setup the mic more in the middle of the room instead of at the backside would that have been better?
could you explain to me how i can improve by using the equalizer?
it`s mainly on the voice that reverb is to much is there away to let the voice be heared better ?

If you used only 1 microphone to record everything then there is pretty much nothing you can do. Generally speaking, the closer you mic something, the less reverb your get.
