I have a:
-windows xp
-random USB-MIDI interface
-Yamaha P-140

The computer recognizes the cable.

(I have connected in with out and out with in.)
When I have turned on the piano and start the 'Yamaha USB-MIDI driver', on my screen appears 'Error 25001'. That means: No device connected.

Does anyone now what I need to do?

What is the "Yamaha USB-Midi Driver"? With a generic/whichever midi to USB cable/interface there will be no feedback is something is connected via midi or not, it should just work in your DAW/Program of choice.

Does the keyboard have a regular MIDI OUT socket (a round jack with 5 holes)? If so, plug it into a MIDI IN socket on the USB MIDI box and forget about the Yamaha driver. If not, install the Yamaha driver on your PC and plug the keyboard directly into a USB port on your PC.

P-140 is midi only, thats why I asked why he is using a Yamaha USB midi driver.

Maybe he got confused and is referring to the USB MIDI device's driver then?
