i'm having problems with my audiophile 2496 soundcard again...everytime i try to run my jukebox, or my magix recording software, both just freeze does this have something to do with the soundblaster soundcard i have in my computer...i had it working before but everytime i restart my computer i'm getting the same problem..before i went into hardware settings in the audiophile soundcard and fixed the problem..but now that is not doing the trick..can anyone lend me a hand
thanks

If the other soundcard is onboard, go into the bios and disable it.
If it's a pci card, just whip it right out of there

but isn't it possible to have both my audiophile 2496 soundcard and soundblaster soundcard running with no problems?

its possible but maybe not for your comp....i wasnt able to run magix on my computer after i installed sonar...i uninstalled sonar and magix still wouldnt work..oh yeah at the time i was running a 1.7 ghz celeron 256mb sdr memory windows me system. try using windows media player or real player and see if you are able to play things.

windows media player plays video, but there is no sound..i tried uninstalling magix music maker but that didn't help

it sounds like one of those fun problems with everything being setup to play on the soundblaster but now that audiophile is in there, the soundcards are fighting over who gets to be the one to play it...i went through that...but i came to the conclusion that it wasnt worth the hassle to try to keep my mobo soundcard and the 2496 doing seperate things...be a kind soul and retire the soundblaster lol

i took out the soundblaster soundcard from my computer but i'm still having the same problems...can anyone through out some more suggestions
thanks

Remove the audiophile.
Reboot.
Uninstall the soundblaster drivers.
Uninstall the audiophile drivers.
Switch off.
Reinstall the audiophile.
Reboot.
Reinstall the audiophile drivers.
Reprofile the soundcard in your recording software

what a headache..i uninstalled the drives, removed the soundcards, put back in the audiophile, reinstalled the audiophile driver and redid the settings in control panel and it started working..then shut down my computer, restarted and jukebox starting freezing again..now i dont understand what is happening since soundblaster is not in my computer anymore....HELP!!!!

so it works.......ok go into your delta contol panel. click on hardware settings click 44,100. uncheck rate locked. check reset rate when idle. click save and done...then try the juke box

right..i went into hardware settings, followed your advice, and everything worked..but as soon as i turn my computer off and back on..everything is freezing again..and when i check back in hardware settings everything is fine, it's set at 44,100 and the appropriate boxes are checked....i emailed tech support at m-audio..i'm hoping they have a clue on how to help..but thanks for your help distortedrumble..much appreciated

for me the problem was magix itself....it didnt want to play well with the rest of my system.

Have you tried the new Delta drivers or just the ones on the driver disk (there are newer ones you could try).

My hunch is Windows ME is the problem. I'm guessing you don't have WDM drivers for Audiophile at the moment so the ones you have are not multi-client and that a program (probably Jukebox but Real Player and Winamp are common trouble makers) is loaded in the taskbar at start up. The new Audiophile (Delta) drivers for ME are WDM and that should help but you will also need WDM drivers for the Soundblaster if you want that too.

What version of Magix do you have? Earlier versions (up to 5 I think) didn't like AMD processors for one thing.

I'm tempted to say you should upgrade to Windows XP, ME is known to be a total arse of an O/S. Even going back to 98SE would be better!

Have a clean out of the programs running in the tasbar system tray (by the clock). The only thing that really need to be there is the Soundcard control Icon - anything else is actually loaded and using up resources.

Don't forget to uninstall the Audiophile driver you need to run the deltauninstaller.exe program in the drivers folder - you will certainly get crashes if you don't do that before re-installing.
The new driver actually uninstalls the old one for you.

i have magix musicmaker 2004 delux and my OS is Windows XP

i was the one with windows ME. i finally upgraded to XP when i couldnt get the audiophile to work in windows ME. and i did have an AMD duron at the time i tried magix, jim. interesting lol

all is good in my world..i updated my drivers and gave my audiophile its own IRQ and it started working smoothy...thanks for all your help everyone!
