Problems with Adobe Audition freezing when Behringer UCG102 is plugged in

Hi all,

I am new to the forum, so I hope I am posting in the right section.

I have been recording my guitar for a number of years using audition 3.0, using the soundcard and outputting from my amplifier to my computer, but only recently I have been trying to do it using Guitar Rig and adobe audition 5.5. I had to upgrade audition because 3 kept crashing.

Anyway to cut a long story short I have started using the Behringer UCG102 to plug my guitar straight into the computer. I have recorded a couple of instrumental pieces to test it out and sometimes it works fine. Then for no apparent reason adobe audition will lock up and freeze. Sometimes as soon as I plug in the Behringer adobe audition will freeze. As soon as I unplug the behringer audition will unfreeze.

I am using the Behringer asio 2.8.14.0 driver. Anyway I thought perhaps there is a driver problem with vista or something. So I went to the behringer website and downloaded the asio 2.8.40 driver. This installed fine, but when I plugged in my behringer device adobe audition wouldn't recognise I had it plugged in. So I uninstalled it and went back to my original driver. It sees my device. Adobe audtion works for a second and then freezes.

Please help if you have had the same problem.
PS I am using a a Lenovo dual core laptop

regards
Thomas

Hi all,

I have pretty much worked it out now. Also in my first post I forgot to say it freezes when I hit the record button.

The problem is not with the asio driver. The problem was with guitar rig. I might have forgot to mention that. You see I could record one track ok, but it was always the second track which gave me the problem.

Here is the solution. Adobe audition or my computer is not powerful enough to run two tracks running guitar rig effects.
The solution is to freeze the first track while playing the second track. Or even turn off the guitar rig effect on the first track temporarily while recording the second track.

It has pretty much taken me all day to work this out. Hope it helps somebody else.
