Problems recording with Korg MS2000R

After a month I've finally assembled all the equipment I -thought- I needed to start recording: Korg MS2000R, Oxygen 49-key midi controller, Digidesign Mbox 2, Ableton Live 8, + 2 midi cables

I've looked at the manual for each device multiple times and I'm certain I have the setup correct. Midi out from Oxygen controller going to Mbox's Midi in, and Midi in from the Korg going to Mbox's Midi out. Simple enough, I'd think.

When I record in Ableton the data shows up, but I can't hear it while I'm playing, and during the silent playback the master volume doesn't budge.

I'm trying to use the headphone jack on the front of the Mbox to hear my playing, but I got nothing.

I've scoured the internet trying to figure out the problem...Do I need a mixer or speakers in order to hear anything? Shouldn't headphones suffice? It might also be the preferences in Live; I do have the output set to the Mbox though.

If anyone could offer advice I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks.

(I'm hoping this is the right place...first post!)

Your recording only MIDI data. I think the only way to hear it is to connect headphones to your keyboard. When you play it back it should come through there as well because your basically using Ableton as a MIDI sequencer.

If you want to hear the keyboard you have to record the audio out not the MIDI.

If you want to have the option of editing the MIDI do it this way.

1) record midi. (listen to the keyboard headphones)
2) edit midi. (listen to the keyboard headphones)
3) run the track, it should be controlleing your keyboard, and record the audio.

Make sense?
