Problems burning

I recorded my band (on the Fostex MR-8 HD CD), mastered it, and put it into a 2mix file. When I play that .WAV back on the unit, it sounds just fine; when I try to burn it onto the CD, however, it invariably puts a skip in the same spot, and the track just goes to mush (you can faintly hear snatches of song in the background of a loud, white noise). I tried to skirt it by downloading the software updates and just hooking the thing straight into my computer, but I can't open them once I've downloaded them (they're in a .MOT format my computer doesn't recognize). So, I guess my questions are:

1)How do I go about repairing the disk drive?; or
2)How do I convert the file to a recognizable format so I can skirt the whole CD burning thing and just put it directly onto my computer?

It's still under warranty, but I can't find the warranty info anywhere. Is a repair pricey?

Thank you!

I have an MR-16 (non CD ROM model). See if this helps...

* Plug a USB cable into the provided spot on the back of the unit.

*Plug the other end into an available USB port on your computer.

* Click on "My Computer"
* The directory should show the MR-8 as an external hard drive. Click on that folder.

* Look for the appropriate song (should be in a .wav format).

* Copy or cut it from that folder to your desktop -or- a designated location for your music.

* Double click on that folder and take a listen. See if the glitch still exists when playing. If it does, you may need to go back and try to weed it out (whether it's on the mixed down stereo track or hiding in one of the recorded tracks). If not, you should be good to go.

Good luck, and post back in this thread with your results, please.

Thanks,
J
