problem with sampling rate conversion

Hi I am using Sonar 2 and recording at 24/96. I have a project with some audio clips that I want to convert to 16/44 for use in another application.

I figured the easiest way to do this was to open a new project at 16/44 and import the audio from my original project. Unfortunately, when I try to do this I get an error message:

DirectShow Error 0x80040209: The Operation cannot be performed because the pins are not connected.

Anyone have any idea what this means? I have had no problems with Direct X before. I believe I upgraded to the most recent version several months ago.

If no one has any ideas, does anyone else have a suggestion for changing the sampling rate. What software is good for this?
Thanks.

Sonar 2 will convert the audio.
Go to File/export audio
Choose the destination and bit depth and there you go.

OK I tried that. I can change the bit depth from 24 to 16 bits but there is no option for changing the sampling rate from 96KHz to 44.1 KHz. The output file is 16/96.
I want to use the output file in a program that will only support 16/44.

Sonar 2 does not have the capability to convert sample rate.

Assuming you do not have a program like Sound Forge or Wavelab, I believe there are some free converters available on the web. Do a google search on sample rate converters.
