The other day I plugged my guitar straight into my computer using a Big jack to Small Jack adapter. Now when I record anything, all the other tracks bleed into the tracks I'm trying to record on. Have I damaged my soundcard?

It also records any audio that might be playing on a different program, like i-tunes. Can anyone help?

There is a setting on your sound cards control panel that says something like 'record what you hear' you need to uncheck that.

You might get better help if you posted this in the Cubase forum.

It actually happens in audition as well, so its probably a problem with the sound card

Di you see what I posted? It is your soundcard configuration.

you should NEVER plug a guitar directly into a sound card.
you get impedence mismatches and possibility of damaging sound card.
proper way...
guitar amp miced OR guitar>>>DI box>>>mixer>>>>line in of sound card.
if your using a cheap consumer sb like sound card. in its control panel,
turn off what you hear so previously recorded tracks arent recorded onto current recording track.

Thanks, I don't have a "What U hear" box. But i'll try what you guys said and see if it works.
