I've got a midi track that needs to be audio. I sent it on a bus and then set mono audio track's input to that same bus, but it's not working. I think the output needs to be analog, but there's no option for that on my pro tools. I'm using an m audio speaker studiophile av30 speaker. what's the problem here? how would I hook up the speaker properly to pro tools sound analog can be an option for output?

Have you got the midi track talking to a sound source?

midi doesn't generate audio. You need something to generate the audio, like a VSTi.

yes, they're stereo instrument tracks that I used plug ins, like xpand and native instruments massive, on.

The goal is to be able to send the tracks to someone else who has pro tools for them to mix it, but to have the midi's converted to audio so they get the right sound even if they don't have the plug in I used to get the sound. let me know if I need to explain this more

Set up Instrument track.

Put instrument plug-in on the track, and have it playing your MIDI data.

Is it creating sound?

If so, then set the output of your instrument track to bus 1 (for a mono instrument), or bus 1-2 (for a stereo instrument track).

Set up a mono or stereo audio track and set it's input to bus 1 or bus 1-2 respectively (depending on the above).

Put the audio track into record enable.

Record.

Done.

Don't worry about the "analog" thing. Sometimes it's labeled "out 1-2" or something.
