Howdy,

I'm using CEP on a newer Dell computer. I added a generic soundcard just to use the midi port. I'm using a Yamaha keyboard to play NI Pro53 soft synth. I can record an audio track of the synth in single track mode but in order to record the synth in multi track mode, I have to go to the computer audio controls and select "wave out mix". Problem is, when I do this, all of the other tracks also get recorded onto the synth track. It's all or nothing.
Any help out there? Dobro? :)

"I have to go to the computer audio controls"

You're in a way different quadrant than me here, but I don't see why you should go to Windows audio controls instead of Cool Edit. You're recording in Cool, so all the settings should be in Cool.

In Cool Edit: Options>Device Properties>Wave In

What have you got selected for that?

I have the internal soundcard selected in device properties.

I did find a way around my problem. I posted the question in sound card forum. Someone suggested I record the part first on the soft synths internal recorder, while listening to CEP tracks,
then record the track in CEP. I think there's a trigger in CEP so I can sync the synth part.

Dobro, you still using that same cheesy synth? You should download a demo of one of Native Intruments soft synths.
They have some nice sounds.

Thanks for the suggestion, Mr Chandeliers, I appreciate it. Yeah, I've abandoned those sounds I was using. But rather than replace them with something better, I've moved in another direction entirely for the moment. But I'll keep the Native Instrument synths in mind for possible futures.
