Hello Everybody

I have tried this two times now and on two different computers and I want to know if anybody else also have had this issue or if anybody knows what the problem might be.

I use wavelab 6 to limit my final mix for a television program. The sound is exported from the editing program Edius 6,02 and I export the sound as: PCM Wave 16 bit, 2ch.
When the files is rendered with just a limieter to -12 DB, approximately half way into the file, it lowers the sound very much. One time it lowered it to - 30DB and the other time it lowered it to between -14DB and -20DB. It doesn't last throughout the rest of the file, it's only for like 5-6-7 minutes and then it gets back on track with a correct limiter to -12 DB.
I use Wavelab a lot and everyday I export 2-3 wave files from Edius and limit them in Wavelab. So it's a really rare problem I've experienced.

The sound does never peak, so that can't be the problem.

Thank you,

Regards
Emily

What limiter are you using and what level is the audio peaking at to begin with?

Cheers :)

I use the limiter called VST Dynamics, press limit in the right side of it and set the Treshold to -12 DB.

Usually it peaks between -14 DB to -8 DB.

Rather use "Peak Master" to limit the material. It is located in the stock plugins menu. Set the "Out Ceiling" to -12dB and adjust the input until you get the desired amount of limiting. Since your highest peaks are around -8dB, try setting the input to about +4dB. This should give you about 4dB of gain reduction on the loudest parts and will keep the audio from going over -12dB.

Keep in mind that Peak Master does not have a gain reduction meter so you have to use your ears.

Cheers :)
