agree

good ? i just recently became a protools user... and a forum or protools would be GREAT! all the other programs have one... whoever has the power to do this... PLEASE !!

i believe that there isn't a protools forum here because digidesign has its own forum.

go to digidesign.com and then click on the support button and then click on the user conference button.

I agree.

I agree that this forum should have a Pro Tool thread. I have used both forums and seem to get answers faster here then at DigiDesigns. The forum at DigiDesign is great but it would be nice to have one here too.

Still would be nice to have a Pro Tools board as well as an official forum for singers. Would be a more complete one stop shop.

the event electronics forum is the official singers forum

i use digis duc, but it would rock ass to have a pt forum here.

Pro tools schmo tools! :P If you guys would like a bit more robust system try Nuendo 2.01. ;)

Vesuvius,
You're right, Pro Tools stinks... That's why Disney and practically every major recording studio uses it. I'll admit the MIDI in PT is not too happening, but there is great software for that and some of it works in conjunction with PT.
I'd love to see Nuendo in action... I hear great things. However, just because you like your steak cooked well done doesn't mean my very rare steak is bad.
To each his own!
Please pass the salt and pepper.

LMAO!! True that man. Not that Pro Tools is "bad" persay. I just love Nuendo. It has such effecient performance and super intuitive controls and tools.

See if your local Guitar Center has a demo set up. I will never record VST with any other software.

Of course functionality comes with a price tag. $1300 retail. ;) But worth every penny.

i use a hd3 accel system and a nuendo 2.1 rig.. i usually stick to nuendo b/c everything is so much faster. its really easy to use and the layout is far better than pt...

the hd3 has a lot of power.. but nuendo still does everything it does.. i say with.. 2 powercores and 2 uad-1's.. you'll be str8.. if doing a A/B test using pt LE and nuendo.. i can't see how anyone could ever choose pt..
a TDM system is a great thing to have but a native nuendo system can do everything for $50,000+ less
not to mention nuendo has the best sounding audio engine out.. the only audio engine comming close is samp 7.2

Actually I am running it with a MSI 875P Neo board and P42.6C Hyperthreading CPC. WAY cheaper than MAC and easily just as functional.

I am upgrading to a tascam FW-1884 early this year. I think this setup is absolutely optimal for the investment! ;)

There's something cheaper than a Mac??
I forget who said this about the G-5 but it still makes me snicker.
"Only Mac could make a newer faster machine with one less PCI slot and call it a success"! I looked at one the other day and it looks nice but you can only put two hard drives in the case. ATA is way faster than FW as far as I know. I'm running a G-4 dual one gig and I have three big drives in it. It's pretty fast when it comes to processing tracks and doing conversions. It also boots in OS9 {:-)
Can you use Nuendos converter with Pro Tools? That is a bit of a gripe for me with PT! Expensive system and then they lock you into their hardware all the way. It would be nice to save a few $$

I know that Nuendo has performed flawlessly on every system I have installed it on so far. And I am no less than a power user. As far as I know it has some hardware support built in but works great generically. By the way if you think ATA is fast.... Try Serial ATA.

i'm hearing people saying that the samp 7 audio engine even sounds better then nuendo....

Pardon my "ignance" but, is SAMP 7, Sampletank?
I come from the analog world but have used Protools since it's Soundtools incarnation on a blazing Mac IIFX.
Remember when the Texas Instruments word processor was cool? It had two disks...One was the operating system and the other was fer stickin yer goodies on.
I think I could have hidden my G-4 in there!
What's your take on Protools and editing?
I find it is super easy for this and it does great time compression/expansion, unlike Soundtools, which had this subtle "burble" here and there. I thinnk it used to just drop bits here and there to compress track length. And to think... We're just gettin' started!!!!!

i have both... they both sound great.. but imo nuendo is cleaner and samp has a more headroom...
