Just added a new internal hard drive. 2 TB SATA hard drive. I installed it and formatted the drive but I think I need to adjust some settings. Not sure which ones though. Pro Tools will save files on the new hard drive and it will play them back too. But it won't record onto the new hard drive. I'm getting a message about allocating files or something or other. Does anyone know off hand what setting I might have to adjust? Thanks dudes.

not sure if this will solve your problem, but it's worth a look.

open protools and go to window>workspace.

you'll see all your drives listed and there will be a column for audio and video.

under audio, any drives that you want to use should be set to 'record' rather than transfer or playback.

try that and see what happens :)

if it doesn't work, post up the exact message,,rather than something or other.
gd luck.

I went in a checked on those settings. It was set the right way. And then i tried to record something and it worked. I have no idea what changed but it's working now.

so, you duno what fixed it, but it's fixed??

that sounds about right for protools.

gd luck.
