Hello all, new to this forum, glad I found it.

I recorded a violinist using four mics on two separate stereo tracks.
Is there a way to combine those tracks?
What's the best way to edit a recording that uses four mics?

Two mics were close to her and other two were about 20 feet into the hall. I like the way the four mics sound very much and I turned down the mics that were further out in the hall, they were just for reverb.

There are some notes and squeaks that need to be edited out, retakes etc., and I need to be able to slide the audio around the track but I don't want to do that unless I'm able to either do the exact same thing on both tracks or combine them first.

Also how do people normally setup PT when they record a single source using four mics?

Thanks

Here's how I do it when working with multipul mics on one take. At the bottam left side of the edit screen there's a little arrow. Click it, and it'll open a side menu. At the bottom of that menu there's a "Groups" section. Click the down arrow to the right of the title select New Group (you can alos accomplish this by hitting Ctrl G on a PC). You'll get a pop up that shows all your trax on the left and an empty box on the right. double click the tracks you want to group on the left, and they should pop over into the right box. Then at the top of the menu, there's some check boxes and circles. You can select what type of group your looking for. If you check Edit, any cuts and/or moving of regions made on one track will happen on all the tracks included in the group. If you click Mix, any volume, pan, or other envelope adjustments you make on one will happen on all. Edit and Mix will of course do both to all. On the right you can also link Solos, and mutes on your grouped tracks as well. You can give your group a title at the Top (ie. "Violin Mix Group" or "Volin Edit Group" ect...)

As for how I do it.... When recording drums for instance, I typically create a group in which the record mute and solo functions on all my drums tracks are linked, so I don't have to click 8 to 10 different record, mute and solos buttons (you burn out your hand and your mouse clicking away like that.... :)

For editing, Some times if I'm taking a bar from one take and am pluging it into a different take, because maybe I like the grove on the kick a bit more, I'll link all the tracks so I'm taking the entire kit from that bar, and I'm not just picking the kick drum. If, I of course didn't do that, I'd get "off" sounding overlaps between the 2 takes, and then it just sounds sloppy.

Hope that helps, Good luck!
Cheers
