Pro Tools Or...

Hey, I know, there are many wyas to record with clarity and stuff, but what about pro tools system.?

I've found today almost all information I guess I need to know a bit of it. I'm talkin about the Digidesign 001. I've got a question though.

Does it need a Pre-amp before conecting all the microphones?. Could you manage the hardware level from your computer?. Which is the usual chaing for using it basically?.

However I've found that the C-port has features similars than the 001. The price is because of the sound, the brand or is there something else that could make a big diference betwenn both of them?

The Digi 001 has two mic pres, so if you wanna run mics to the remaining six analog inputs, you're going to need a mixer, or something with preamps and direct outs. You can control the level of the inputs with the mixer in Pro Tools.
