hey i am a newbie here and i am loving this site with all the help! i am kinda of in the sam situation as Steelo_Brown. I have a few questions, i am kind of in a bind right now, i have an emachines computer, model T2385 i have a 1gb ram 80gb harddrive no intergrated graphics controller and intel celeron processor. Here is the current information to my machine now:

EMachines T2385
2.3-GHz Celeron CPU,
1GB of DDR266 SDRAM,
Windows XP Home, 80GB hard drive,
16X DVD-ROM drive,
48X/24X/48X CD-RW drive,
integrated Intel Extreme graphics using main memory,
AC-97 sound card,

I want to buy pro tools m-box 2, so i decided to make my own computer since i just started going to college to get my comp science degree i don't know much about this. So i went to the pro tools website and saw that my chip set and processor will not support the m-box2.

so i went to tigerdirect.com and checked out this barbones kit:
tigerdirect.dotcom/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3329104&Sku=M452-2848%20A

I e-mailed digidesign and asked to see if this kit was compatible, everything is i think for except the chipset, but they replyed and said it is not compatible for the pro tools m-box2. I really don't know what to do next i thought this was a great system to use for the amount of money witch is a great price. Does anyone have any advice to a computer i can buy that is already made or has anyone else gone through this same thing?? digidesign should build a computer that you can buy already made to support pro tools because this sucks trying to figure out what is compatible and what is not.

Check out the digidesign user conference. (duc.digidesign.com) Then look under Pro Tools LE for Windows XP, then look for the Best Desktops for LE. That thread will tell you what motherboards are recommended for pro tools.
