Pro Tools Express - M-Audio MTrackPlus

H!! I am a complete Pro Tools newbie.
I have recently been thinking about purchasing the M-Audio M-Track Plus

Main reason for buying this would be the price factor and bundled Pro Tools Express Software.

1) Can the Pro Tools Express (bundled with MTrack Plus) be upgraded to Pro Tools 11 for a $499 upgrade?

2) Once upgraded to Pro Tools 11 can PT work as a standalone DAW on any PC/Mac? Or will it always be dependent on M-Audio or any other Avid hardware?

I think so, but really you'd be better just browsing an online music store.
Search for PT 11 crossgrade from express.

Yes. Protools 9, 10 and 11 operate the same way as logic, reaper etc.
They aren't tied to a particular brand or type of interface.

I use a motu 828 mk2 with PT10/11, for example.
If I don't have the interface plugged in, Protools will default to my built in audio.
