just bought:

iMac 2.16 GHz Core 2 Duo 24"
250GB HD
Tiger

installed pt le 6.9

plugged in mbox and started pt, it opens the program fine

but, when i try to open a new session, it says "...cannot record on specified volume because it is not a record audio volume..."

i updated 6.9 to 6.9.2 to be compatibe w/ tiger, still nothing

wiped out hard drive, partitioned and reinstalled osx and pro tools THREE TIMES, still nothing

i dont know if its pro tools or osx, i dont know where to start

Windws--Show Workspace

Change your record drive in the "A" column to "R"

If that doesn't work, then it's probably something up with your drive permissions. Mac's seem to have that problem more frequently.

a wont switch to r, thats the problem

and the box that says ignore ownership is checked, so thats not it either

did you try reparing disc permissions like I suggested in the other thread?

Run the Disk Utility located at Macintosh HD>Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility. Click on the 'First Aid' tab, then select your main drive (with your OSX installation) in the left window and click on 'Repair Disk Permissions'. Restart your computer
It's suggested to possibly try uninstalling Pro Tools before repairing your disk permissions, but you might not need to.

yes i did, a few times. said nothing needed to be repaired on the disk

ive searched/emailed everything and everyone with this problem and nobody knows what the hell is going on. kind of frustrating, but thats how it is :)

and this is your only drive in the computer? and it's IN the computer, yes?

also, you are formatting your drive as "Mac OS X Extended (Journaled)" and not "Case Sensitive" right?

Which OSX version?

Or try:
http://protoolsforum.com/DigiPrefs.html
then try to change it from T to R in the workspace.

or
If you have run the "restore" or "reinstall" of OSX and choose the save applications and files option, Pro Tools will not function correctly upon being restored, one symptom would be the error as noted. Solution is to run the uninstaller from the Pro Tools 6x CD, repair disk permissions on the drive (use the Apple Disk Utility located in MacHD>Applications>Utilities) and reinstall.

Oh wait...do you have an Intel mac?

?? 6.9 doesn't work on Intels.

Yes it does. 6.9 is supported on intel macs ONCE you update to 6.9.2 according to DIGIDESIGNS website.

Yes, the format is extended, journaled, internal default hd, no external, all the necessary updates required by digidesign and apple, still nothing.

Do you have a link for that?

Pro Tools LE 6.9.2 does not support Intel-based Macs. Digi 002, Digi 002 Rack, Mbox, and Mbox 2 users that wish to use Pro Tools LE on an Intel-based Mac will need to upgrade to Pro Tools LE 7 in order to get Pro Tools LE 7.1.1 for Intel-based Macs.

Mac released the Mac Intels in 2006?
Digi put out 6.9.2 in 2005
