Newbie here. I want to do professional voice-overs through a Mackie 1202 VLZ PRO mixer straight to PC. Dry voice only. Current sound card pops & crackles. My chipset (SiS 530 & 5595) is NOT compatible with Echo's Mia. Are there any other professional grade cards out there under $250? Thanks!

Delta Audiophile goes for about $160 but its inputs/outputs are unbalanced...if that is an issue the Delta 44 would be the step up...

Hoontech's Soundtrack Audio DSP24 ($???) / DSP24 Value Edition ($130?) are both below that. I have the Value edition, but I've experienced the analog inputs as quite noisy. Although the digital ones (which are the inputs I use), are just fine.

Just great, he asks for a card to do professional voice-overs and you reccomend one that is "quite noisey" .....

Just telling him that there is one he should avoid. ;)

It says nothing about "what cards do you recommend", he's simply asking for cards in that price range. And I did not recommend it either, if you care to read my post a bit more carefully. :p

Besides, it's my personal experience that they are "noisy". I am part of a mailing-list of DSP24 users and many of them swear by their cards. So what do I know?
