Pristine vox mix

Vox seem to sit really nice. The only issue I had with the short clip was the kick drum seemed to be a little outa control. I noticed it the first time through,..then every subsequent time I listened it made me focus on it more. But,..yeah,..the vox sound great,...would be really interested in hearing the rest of the tune,..prolly the whole album. Sounds like its a really good song.

Yeah I need to speak with the mastering engineer before I decide on a final volume for the kick drum as the kick will come down in volume due to the limiting at mastering and I dont want the kick to get buried, but it will be quieter in the master.
Im pretty happy with the sound I got for the vox. Pretty clear.
I only used an NT2 and an ARTtue pre amp set to vocal warm.
NT2s can get wuite grainy in the high end so I didnt really add much high end, more so I added around the 3K mark to make the vox clearer without having to make them that loud, sothe guitars can still keep their power.

Ive still to add a wihsperig track and a screaming track for the end bit where the vox are distorted. Gona cmpress them to heel and back and tuck under the main vox so should sound pretty full bodied. :)

It will be released in USA, Europe and the UK around April, so keep an eye out in the shops for it. :) Ahh a shamefull plug. :P Had to be done.

Its called "Moment of Transparency" getting released on Re-Action Recordings.

You can check out some of our older recordings at www.myspace.com/serotoneband but the recordings are pretty lame as I did them like 2 years ago. We re-recorded the whole album and im putting the finishing touches to the mixes.

I like the song generally. I agree that the kick is slightly too powerful, maybe just a bit too much punch or something, but I can hear it a bit too dominant sometimes. I think the vox should stand out a bit more, but that's just an opinion as I favour slightly stronger vocals.

The guitars sit really nice in your mix, good stuff there!

Your album sounds like it will be a good listen.

Thanks alot man. Yeah I get what your saying about the vox, but that is the sound I goingfor. Keeping the vox clear but so that the guitars and bass can still have a good deal of power in the mix.

yes my friend! this i like more! it's a small change but a big difference somehow. i felt that when the main chorus bit/heavy bit kicked the vox stood out and held their own better, if anything slightly crisper. it's a good improvement.

I added more EQ around the 3K area and added more delay, and some distortion for the last part, after the chorus. Ive recently changed the mix so the guitars are a little less bright.

Oops. :eek: The drums arent as loud as I mean them to be in this mix though. I accidently muted the parallel comp bus for the kick and snare. In the final mix they will be a bit louder.
