is this a good unit. how many colors can it print onto a cd and all that? and i belive it burns the cds too and duplicates them as well as prints, so thats a plus right? im new to cd printers and duplicators of these sorts so point on some good machines for me and ones to stay away from? ahve you seen any deals on this one like ebay or how much it would go used? if i could stay under 1000 bucks on a duplicator/printer thatd be great

I think the Primera Bravo line costs more than your 1k budget. The printer alone (no burner) went for about $1,200 the last time I looked and the printer/burner system was around $1,500. There are less expensive inkjet printers made by Epson but I've heard bad things about their print quality. If you are just looking for limited numbers of custom printed inkjet CD's, it might be more cost-effective to use a printer or an online design/print outfit like Mixonic.com.

Primera Bravo...

You can find 'em used for a grand or so.
I owned one until recently & it did do what it was supposed to. As for print quality, I could live with it, the next step being getting shit done commercially. Shit looked fine to me, though. You do have to be be quite precise during layout so that there's no shift in the graphic when printing (nudge, nudge, nudge)...

I only sold it because I had greater needs than a stand-alone cd duper/printer, but it was cool to have around.

Just so you know, the benefit is that the machine is fully automated, so you can set it & forget it, the speed is nothing special, though. Make sure you get the 50 cd expander-thingy so you can double the amount of CDs you can run at once, and cut your handling time in half. It's worth the bucks, and should've been standard...
