Presonus tubepre - best tube to replace the original one?

hello everyone,

im looking for the best sugestion to replace this pre's orginal tube..its a cheap sovtek, think it costs 8 bucks or something, but ive heard a simple switch can do wonders...

in your opinion wich tube is the best to replace it with? in terms of brands of course...
orginal model is Sovtek 12AX7WA..

tanx for the sugestion..ill check these out. are they really THE best, or when it comes to tubes, when u pass a certain level of crap, everything will be more or less the same...

i really dont know wheter or not it works like that..

Not all 12ax7 tubes are made the same way. (if I remember correctly) The electrical properties are the same but the internal construction can be very different. I am not an expert on what tube belongs in what mic preamp, if you give the guy at eurotubes a call, he will be able to help you. (you can e-mail him as well) This guy really knows his stuff and is happy to help everyone. I really like the JJ/teslas in everything I have used them in. They seem to be the closest thing to the old tubes that everyone covets so much.
