Presonus is having a sale now on thier pre amps, compressors and Eq's...buy 3 get the stand for free. Are they any good? Worth the $100 each for 3 of them, or not?

PreSonus... ANY GOOD?

Does anyone know if the TUBEPre, Comp16 Compressor, EQ3B Parametric Equilizer are any good for $99 each. Is it better to save for a Pre or Comprsessor for around $200, and if so which ones?

Really depends on what you're planning on using it for. If you're just starting out, and all you have is a couple hundred dollars to spend, and you're not familiar with using mic pre's/compressors and such...I think it would be a decent deal. A few months down the road, once you've had a chance to work with it a bit, you'll probably want to upgrade :D

I've been using the DIGITube for a while now--it was my first pre, and I can make her sound damned good. She's no avalon, but she's got 48khz SPDIF on her, and it really makes the difference. Definately a good choice if they're offering that model as well.

I don't know that one, but the Presonus TubePre, I just got a week or 2 ago. I tried it out in the store w/ an ecm8000 to see how noisy it could be and I was suprised that it wasn't bad. Actually there was so much background noise in the store, i cranked it up and still no noise. took it home and I did notice noise, but not any worse than my Art Tube mp studio v3, and maybe a bit less, but since it's not as bright, that could just be the reason.... It seems darker, and good metering, handy phase rev. has phantom, tube is strong red glow, is light, nice knobs, is blue.

Sounds pretty good and w/ my mxl 990 it seems to like my voice. I don't have any eq control like w/ my V3, but lately I've been setting my V3 on flat anyway. I think it's ok for the price, I have heard that solid state for same price gets you better or cleaner gear - it's single channel also, so consider that.

I went for it b/c I need to know that my distorted higher level stuff won't sound as bad as solid state and I need high levels and I record alone, and I don't like limiting much and the smoother sound of the tube distoring is ok w/ me, at least for now....
