I recently purchased a Presonus Inspire 1394 for use on my Toshiba laptop. I should have done my homework more carefully. The Toshiba uses an ATI Radeon video card that is completely incompatible with all current Presonus interfaces. Presonus tech support was sympathetic but have no solution to this problem.

I need to sell the Inspire (past the return window) and get a replacement. Does anyone have any suggestions for a replacement soundcard that is proven to be compatible with the Radeon.

Any links on this Radeon issue would be appreciated.

What's strange is that I used a Presonus Firepod with a Radeon 9600 card in my Dell laptop and had zero problems with it. I think I remember seeing something about the Radeon 9000 IGP things being an issue. As far as I know, this is not an issue with any other cards.

cawhite12,

I think you are right, it is specific to the 9000 IGP and apparantly affects all Presonus firewire interfaces.

I'm just looking to see if there are any other interfaces to avoid with a 9000 IGP.

Thanks for you insight,

Gary
