Does anyone who owns a 2.2 Ghz quad core Macbook Pro, bought in the last 6 months, use a presonus firestudio mobile? Just checking to see if you have experienced any issues. I really like the look of the firestudio. Just got my new Mac yesterday!:listeningmusic:

I don't have the new MacBook, I have an old one, which I use with a Firestudio Mobile. It's a great interface, and I've never had any problems with it. But if I could do it all over again, I'd probably shell out the extra hundred for the bigger version. I thought I was going to do a lot of recording at different places, so I went for the Mobile, but that hasn't really happened :D
If having a portable setup isn't important, then you can get something by Tascam. It'll be cheaper, and it'll give you more preamps too. Or, like I said, put in the extra hundred and get the Firestudio with 8 XLR inputs.

Agreed. I have a 2011 MBP running 10.6.8.
Firestudio mobile has been completely flawless.

For me it's perfect because I can bolt it into my main setup for an extra 6 line ins, or put in my pocket (near enough) and have 2 mic pres on the road.
Saads right though.
Depending what you'e doing the upgrade might be worth a look.
Great build quality. Feels really solid.

Thanks for the quick responses!

Portable is important at present, as is size...when is that not important? :o

I'm in a studio apartment for the next 2 years at least. I see a Tascam for the same price as the presonus that has 4 mic preamps instead of two. Cool.

But, what about firewire vs usb? Firewire, with the processors the mac already has, will be faster and less prone to latency issues than USB. True?

Size and portability usually go hand in hand. =P Put the Presonus and the Tascam side by side and compare them to each other. See which one would suit you best. USB vs firewire on such a small interface really won't have any issues with latency. You can get more tracks over firewire, but you can still get a lot over USB as well. More than a portable 2 or 4 input interface will give you. =]

Thanks for the advice, sorry for only responding now but much appreciated! Went with the firestudio mobile and it's working just fine. And away I go....
